Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a over the phone conversation with Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko on Wednesday, December 20.
The national leader of the Turkmen people congratulated on the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Federal Assembly and the adoption of the Constitution of Russia, and also congratulated Matvienko on her re-election as Chairman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States.
At the same time, it was emphasized that the outgoing year 2023 was marked by high dynamics in the development of traditionally friendly Turkmen-Russian relations in a wide range of areas, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the fact that the main factors in deepening bilateral cooperation are contacts at the highest state, parliamentary and government levels. It is the regular meetings and visits of the delegations of the two countries that create opportunities for thorough and constructive consideration and resolution of the most important issues of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia.
At the same time, the intensification of humanitarian ties and people's diplomacy was noted and the conviction was expressed that both sides will continue to create opportunities to strengthen friendship between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia, contribute to maintaining mutual respect and increasing trust.
The Chairman of the upper house of the Russian Parliament assured of the continued commitment of the Russian side to further deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Today, Russia is going through a crucial period in its political life: the upcoming presidential elections in March 2024 will be an important stage of political, economic, and social reforms.
The firm conviction was expressed that the multinational people of Russia will make the right historical choice and thereby determine the fate of many generations of Russians in the long term.
Speaking about bilateral relations, the parties noted the need to develop trade and economic cooperation and joint activities in the socio-cultural sphere.
The Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission plays an important role here, the next meeting of which will be held early next year in Ashgabat.
Bilateral partnership in the international arena, primarily in the UN, was also highlighted. At the same time, the head of the Federation Council emphasized the wise foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan.
The telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the Russian side.
