The UN has declared 2026 the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development


The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 2026 the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development.
Kazakhstan put forward this resolution together with like-minded countries from all regions of the world - Armenia, Bolivia, Germany, Kenya and the island nation of Kiribati. The co-authors of this document were 54 UN member countries.
Events within the framework of the international year will give a powerful impetus to the volunteer movement at the national, regional and global levels, will further strengthen international cooperation in the field of volunteerism and determine the key vectors of its future development, as noted in the press release of the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On July 20-21, 2023, the International Volunteer Forum was held in Astana with the participation of the President of Kazakhstan, high-ranking UN representatives and volunteers from more than 30 countries.
