The Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Moscow


On Monday, December 18, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Moscow at VDNKh at the Russia exhibition.
Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Khojamyrat Geldimyradov. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Chairman of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda , Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan, Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the participants with a video greeting. He noted that during Russia’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth, which will begin on January 1, it is planned to develop the practice of holding joint events in a variety of areas of art, education and science, including using the resources of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
We will encourage in every possible way the implementation of film and television projects, the organization of classical and popular music competitions. Russia has already put forward a number of relevant initiatives, including the creation of the Eurasian Academy of Film Arts, the establishment of the Eurasian Film Award and the revival of the international song festival “Intervision,” Putin recalled.

In his speech, Mikhail Mishustin noted another initiative - the interstate program “Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth”. In the past year, St. Petersburg fulfilled
such a mission. Now the title goes to Samarkand. And next year Tashkent will become the first Youth Capital of the CIS.
The meeting participants exchanged views on current issues of multilateral cooperation and cultural and humanitarian interaction in the Commonwealth.
Khojamyrat Geldimyradov emphasized that Turkmenistan actively interacts with interstate associations in the Eurasian space, paying special attention to issues of economic cooperation and regional integration.

At the meeting, a statement was adopted by the heads of government of the CIS member states on the prospects for cultural and humanitarian cooperation. It recognizes the high potential of such interaction for the development of partnership relations, friendship and good neighborliness between countries, expresses the desire to strengthen friendly ties, expand and deepen cooperation between states in the field of culture, and confirms the key goals of cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the Commonwealth.
It is envisaged that the Kyrgyz side, as chairing the CIS, will distribute the text of the Statement to the UN and other international organizations.
