Handicraft and musical traditions of Turkmenistan and Iran united at the Mary festival
The exhibition of decorative, applied and mosaic art of Turkmenistan and Iran is taking place in Mary on December 14-15. The exposition was organized in the regional Museum of Local Lore, and representatives of the Iranian Embassy and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan visited its opening. The cultural event is attended by masters of folk crafts of the two countries, as well as musicians and singers who accompanied the opening day with national melodies.
The event was attended by the Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Ruzbakhani and Cultural attache, head of the Cultural Center at the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat Navid Rasuli. They stressed that this joint creative project is designed to strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and good-neighborly dialogue between the Turkmen and Iranian peoples, the Turkmen State Television news outlet reported.
The exhibition presents samples of artistic needlework, ceramics, toreutics, jewelry, carpets and rugs, traditional household items. At the same time, techniques for making and decorating works of applied art were demonstrated.
The guests from Iran, experts in mosaic art, gave a lecture on the traditions of creating exquisite ornamental tiles, their styles, techniques and materials.
A concert by Turkmen and Iranian artists continued the celebration of the cultures of the two peoples. It was held on the stage of the Kemine State Drama Theater.
An excursion program has also been prepared for the Iranian delegation. Upon arrival in Ashgabat, representatives of the neighboring country visited the historical and cultural reserve "Nisa", in Mary they will travel to Ancient Merv, and on their return to the Turkmen capital they will get acquainted with its modern sights.
