Topics of online meetings - sports cooperation with Japan and Uzbekistan


The Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy, the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan held a videoconference with the municipality of Tendo in Japan.
Earlier, the Turkmen side entered into an agreement with the province of Tendo, located in Yamagata Prefecture, on the creation of a training center for the national team of Turkmenistan in order to prepare and adapt athletes from the Central Asian country to the climate of the host country of the upcoming Olympic Games. In July 2019, Turkmen judokas and athletes passed the first training camp in conjunction with Japanese athletes. But then the situation with coronavirus violated many plans.
Today's online meeting was held with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy, the NOC of Turkmenistan, the ambassadors of the two countries accredited in Ashgabat and Tokyo, and other specialists.
During the meeting, Inji Yamamoto, the mayor of Tendo, spoke about preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Japan, now in 2021. The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the exchange of coaching and managerial experience, and conducting joint training camps.
On the same day, a video meeting of the leaders of the NOCs of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held, also with the participation of ambassadors of two countries and employees of sports departments. It was about establishing closer contacts in the training of athletes, coaches and referees, organizing joint competitions and stimulating sports diplomacy in the region.
