The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discussed issues of cooperation with UNFPA
On Thursday, December 14, the Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, Myakhri Byashimova, met with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Gender Advisor Leila Sharafi.
During the conversation, those gathered discussed the active gender policy of Turkmenistan, which is aimed at promoting the idea of equality through the participation of women in all areas of socio-political activity. The parties focused on the responsible implementation by Turkmenistan of the obligations assumed with accession to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women of 1996 and its Optional Protocol.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on further bilateral interaction in the field of promoting gender equality, raising awareness of reproductive health, as well as improving the legislative framework in this direction.
