Kate Forbes heads the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies


American Kate Forbes was elected president of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This is stated in the press release of the organization.
Forbes became the second woman in the history of the movement to be elected to this post. She will lead the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the next four years. Her term of office may be extended only once as a result of a vote by national federations.
“Now is the time to build on our fundamental principles to fulfill our mission and make communities stronger,” commented Kate Forbes.
Kate Forbes has over 40 years of experience in the IFRC network. An auditor by training, Forbes has been a member of the IFC Board for the past 17 years.
