The largest wind farm in Central Asia will start operating in Uzbekistan.

The first large turbine under its construction was installed in June of this year in the Tamdyn district of the Navoi region of the republic.

The wind farm, which costs $600 million, will cover an area of 293.35 hectares. The project is being implemented jointly with the Arab company Masdar.

To date, 22 wind turbines have been installed there. Their height is 97 meters, and the length of each blade is 77 meters.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the first capacities of the wind farm will already be commissioned in December, and it will fully operate in 2025. The wind farm will produce 1.8 billion kWh of electricity per year, which will provide electricity to 500 thousand households.

The project will make it possible to save 540 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and prevent 1.1 million tons of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
