The USA plans to introduce digital visas for visitors from around the world.

Thus, the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the USA State Department is developing the possibility of issuing a digital visa authorization (DVA) instead of a traditional visa. The permit will be printed and placed inside the applicant's passport.

An initial test of this scheme was carried out at the US Embassy in Dublin. Going forward, paperless US visas will be offered to passengers from all over the world.

“This will save a tremendous amount of effort in getting visa foil to all of our posts overseas, and it is also a very modern way to communicate with airlines, airport representatives,” Julie Stafft, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services at the USA Bureau of Consular Affairs said, adding, that it is now possible to communicate electronically about an applicant's visa status.

But some people may still need to interview or speak with a consular officer.
