Over a million hotel beds in Turkey have received certificates and confirmation of compliance with sustainable tourism requirements. This is evidenced by data published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey on the occasion of the World Travel Market exhibition, which was held in London.

As part of the National Sustainable Tourism Program of Turkey, more than 7,500 hotels with a capacity of 1,044,189 beds have received certificates and confirmation of compliance with sustainable tourism requirements. The certification process is provided for by a Turkish program developed jointly with the Global Council for Sustainable Tourism, with which Turkey was the first in the world to sign an agreement at the state level.

At the World Tourism Exhibition, Turkey presented its leading destinations, products and sub-brands, including “Turkish Riviera”, “Turkestan: Coast of Happiness”, “New Trend: Istanbul”, “Cappadocia: Land of Fairy Tales”, “Turkish Black Sea” and "Nature of Turkey".

Visitors were also introduced to Turkey's cycling routes and 50 types of sustainable tourism destinations across the country. The stand embodied the rich history and cultural heritage of the republic and reflected proposals in the field of sustainable culinary tourism.

Turkey is among the countries in the world where sustainable tourism is a sine qua non and certification of accommodation facilities is mandatory by law. During the implementation of the National Sustainable Tourism Program in the four largest tourism regions of Turkey, 1,144 accommodation properties were confirmed/certified in Antalya, 966 in Istanbul, 639 in Mugla and 488 in Izmir. Over the past nine months of 2023, over 45 million people visited Turkey.
