"Voice of the World" A conference dedicated to Magtymguly was held in Islamabad
The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan together with the Islamabad Institute for Peace Studies and Diplomacy held a scientific and practical conference "Magtymguly Pyragy and friendship of peoples in the modern world" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great thinker and classic poet of the East Magtymguly Pyragy.
Speaking at the conference, the Federal Minister for Heritage and Culture of Pakistan, Syed Jamal Shah, highly appreciated the rich heritage of Magtymguly, calling him a strong voice of peace and unity not only for the people of Turkmenistan, but also for the entire region. Pyragy’s poetry and thoughts can play a significant role for mutual integration, the minister said, adding that poetry and music are an important means of communication between people and are able to bring a new era of trust and dialogue closer.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atajan Movlamov stressed that the study of the literary heritage of Magtymguly will be of great importance for the development of international cultural ties. He also noted that Pyragy, the national poet of Turkmenistan, and Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan, have much in common, and their message is global and universal, because it contains unity, love and tolerance, The Express Tribune reports.
