The 13th meeting of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian States was held on November 27-28 in Bishkek. The event was organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (RCPCA) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting was attended by delegations of Central Asian countries, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia – the head of the RCPCA Kakha Imnadze, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan - the head of the Assistance Mission to Afghanistan Roza Otunbayeva, responsible representatives of the UN secretariat in New York. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Vice Minister Mahri Bashimova.

The diplomats exchanged views on events and trends affecting peace and security in Central Asia, the situation in Afghanistan and aspects of regional cooperation to address these issues, and also discussed interaction between the RCPCA and the Governments of the region in areas related to preventive diplomacy.

The participants of the meeting highly appreciated the long-term partnership and trust that has developed over the years between the governments of the five Central Asian states and the RSPCA. The sides expressed support for the activities of the Regional Center in its priority areas, including the prevention of extremism and countering terrorism, climate change and water diplomacy, as well as dialogues within the framework of the global agendas "Women, peace and Security" and "Youth, peace and security", the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said.

The Fifth Dialogue between the governments and the youth of Central Asia was also held during the meeting. Participants of the Academy of Preventive Diplomacy, representing all five countries of the region, met with Deputy Foreign Ministers to share their vision of the future of the region.

During the visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan visited the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, during which Mahri Bashimova familiarized the participants in detail with the work carried out in Turkmenistan in the fields of education and science, in the field of youth policy. The possibility of working out a Memorandum of Understanding between this Academy and one of the universities of Turkmenistan was considered.
