The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the country on Thursday, November 9, took part in the 12th meeting of the Assembly of the Parties participating in the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).

The meeting was attended by delegates of the participating countries of the initiative and representatives of a number of international organizations. The agenda included issues related to the activities of the IACA: measures to prevent corruption, work on the implementation of international standards in this area and current tasks of the organization. Following the meeting, the Academy's budget for the coming year was adopted.

The representatives of Turkmenistan in their speech stressed the special importance given by the State to the sphere of international cooperation in the fight against modern challenges threatening peaceful life and sustainable development.

It is important to note that Turkmenistan is an active participant of a number of global agreements, including the UN Convention against Corruption. In this regard, active work is also being carried out and positive results have already been achieved: the Law of Turkmenistan on combating corruption, the National Anti-Corruption Action Program and the Plan for its Implementation for 2020-2024 have been adopted.

Turkmenistan has recently joined the Agreement on the establishment of the International Anti- Corruption Academy. Within the framework of the 12th meeting of the participating states, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further cooperation with Turkmenistan as a new member of the Academy.
