Top kurash wrestlers from all over the world are going to Ashgabat
The ten-day countdown to the start of the 14th Kurash Wrestling World Championship, which will be held from November 23 to 28 in Ashgabat, has begun.
It is not the first time Turkmenistan is hosting representative international competitions. Recently, Ashgabat has become the sports center of Asia. In 2017, the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were held in the Olympic Town of the capital with great success, and in 2018 – the World Weightlifting Championship.
On August 16, 2023, the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports made an agreement with the International Kurash Association to hold the 14th Kurash Wrestling World Championship on November 23-28, 2023 in the martial arts sports complex of the Olympic Town of Ashgabat.
"At this championship we will observe the struggle of top athletes from all over the world. The tournament will certainly become one of the most important events of the year. There is no doubt that the Turkmen people will welcome all participants of the championship with warmth and cordiality. I invite all athletes to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the Kurash World Championship," Chairman of the International Kurash Wrestling Association Haider A. Farman said.
The World Championship in this sport is being held in Turkmenistan for the first time. The International Kurash Association was established on September 6, 1998. To date, this sports organization unites 118 national federations from Asia (32), Africa (22), Europe (33), North and South America (22) and Oceania (9).
