A meeting with representatives of the OSCE ODIHR was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan
On November 10, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Rashid Meredov met with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Matteo Mecacci at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the conversation, the sides discussed the intensification of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE, also highlighting the country's close cooperation with various institutions of the organization, including the Parliamentary Assembly, the Office of the High Commissioner for National Minorities, the ODIHR and the Office of the Representative for Freedom of the Media.
Issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the areas of legislative activity, support of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, strengthening of electoral processes, promotion of media freedom and access to information, as well as further cooperation in the field of human rights were also touched upon.
Within the framework of his visit, the ODIHR Director also visited the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Adalat (Justice), the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, and also held a meeting with the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan.
