East of China expands the geography of rail freight to Central Asia
The administrative center of Shandong, Eastern province of China, Jinan city joined the scheme of rail freight on the route China-Central Asia. As Xinhua news Agency reports, the first freight train left Jinan for the Central Asian direction on Friday morning. Making its two-week journey of 7,300 km by transit via Kazakhstan, the train X9008 will deliver to Uzbekistan export goods worth of US $3.6 million, as well as the equipment for the textile industry, produced in Shandong. According to outcomes of Q 1 2018, 56 trains were sent from Shandong province to Central Asia. At the end of March, the first freight train departed the central region Henan for the five countries of Central Asia. Building trade relations with Central Asia through the transport corridors of the new Silk Road is one of the aims of the PRC's integration initiative of Belt and Road.
