Starlink will be connected to rural schools in Kazakhstan
Ten rural schools in Kazakhstan were connected in test mode to broadband Internet using Starlink technology from the American company SpaceX. This became known at a meeting in the government of Kazakhstan.
Thus, the data transfer speed reaches 200 Mbit/s.
In total, 2 thousand Kazakh schools located in rural areas will be connected to the Internet from businessman Elon Musk.
According to Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic Bagdat Musin, the terms of the contract with SpaceX are still being clarified.
According to data from telecom operators in Kazakhstan, 67% of the country’s villages are provided with broadband Internet access: 2,813 villages using 3G mobile technologies and 2,045 villages using 4G. 1,950 villages will receive fixed Internet using ADSL technology (modem technology) and 2,606 villages using FOCL (fiber-optic communication lines) technology.
Previously, the national project “Accessible Internet” was approved in Kazakhstan, which envisages providing the entire population of the republic with high-speed Internet by 2027.
