The Azerbaijani theater will bring a touching play about love to Ashgabat
The Shusha State Musical Drama Theater will bring to Ashgabat the production “You are always with me, Or Edelweiss” based on the play by the famous Azerbaijani playwright Ilyas Efendiyev.
Artists from Azerbaijan will present their performance during the International Theater Festival on November 15 at the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan. Starts at 12:00. This was reported on the website of the country's Ministry of Culture.
In the psychological drama, Ilyas Efendiev tries to solve the eternal dilemma between love and reason, between these seemingly incompatible manifestations of the human psyche. Reason symbolizes wisdom, intelligence, it is cold and calculating. Love is the totality of a person’s emotions, feelings, sympathies; it is, beyond his control, an insight that embraces the soul. The writer, however, is convinced that harmony between reason and the feeling of love is possible and necessary; this can determine the horizons of chastity and moral purity.
In the play “You are always with me” this theme becomes the main one. Here Nargilya, a young girl, falls in love with her neighbor, plant director Hasanzade. The writer does not allow Hasanzadeh’s feelings and desires to unfold, and reveals the complexity of love relationships through a moral prism.
The hero of the play convinces himself that he needs to move to another city so that Nargila can happily arrange her life with her peer. Love feelings in this play are shown so sublimely that, together with Nargilya, one believes in their eternity: “You will always... day and night be next to me. I can't live without you! Wherever you are, I will say these words every day...”
The International Theater Festival in Ashgabat starts next week, on Tuesday, November 14, and will last three days.
