Turkmenistan and the UN Office for Project Services to expand cooperation


Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held talks on Thursday with Freya von Groote, Director of the United Nations Multi-country Office for Project Services (UNOPS), who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, exchanged views on the development of effective cooperation with UNOPS in the context of servicing international projects.

The interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation in the field of healthcare, environmental protection and "green" energy, as well as in the field of professional training of specialists.
The Turkmen side stressed the urgency of further expansion of partnership in the field of ecology, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, digital transition and in the field of effective management of land and water resources, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties agreed to establish a mechanism for bilateral cooperation to coordinate the activities of the UNOPS representative office in our country.
Following the meeting, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNOPS and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and UNOPS took place.
