Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Park Jin outline prospects for Turkmen-Korean dialogue


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on Wednesday, November 1, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the 16th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.
During the conversation with the diplomat, the Head of state noted the dynamic development of Turkmen-Korean cooperation in various fields. In this regard, the recent meeting of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov with his South Korean counterpart Yun Seok-el, which took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, was mentioned. Then the heads of state discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral partnership and outlined its prospects.
Turkmenistan and the Country of Morning Freshness fruitfully cooperate through international organizations and structures, including on such a platform as the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum. This six-party dialogue covers many areas, first of all, such as energy, transport, ecology, healthcare, and the humanitarian field.

In recent years, Turkmen-Korean relations through parliaments have become regular. Mutual visits of speakers of the legislative bodies of the two countries are carried out, contributing to the effective exchange of experience and the expansion of working contacts between parliamentarians.
Among the main issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation is the trade and economic sphere. Large Korean companies have been successfully operating in the oil and gas and transport sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy for many years. And there are prospects for expanding their participation In infrastructure projects.
It was also emphasized that cultural and humanitarian ties are an integral part of Turkmen-Korean relations. For example, there is an educational center for the study of the Korean language named after King Sejong in Turkmenistan. Korean is taught at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, and students from Turkmenistan receive education at leading universities of the Republic of Korea.

At the end of the audience, Pak Jin expressed gratitude for the substantive, thorough conversation on key issues of cooperation and shared his impressions of Ashgabat, stressing that he admired the white marble Turkmen capital, the evening news of the Turkmen State Television reported.
