Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea signed bilateral documents


The signing ceremony of bilateral documents took place following the meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in Ashgabat on Tuesday.
These include: Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the School of Korean Medicine of Busan National University and the National Institute for the Development of Korean Medicine; Agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the governments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea; Cooperation program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea for 2024-2025.

Also, as part of the official visit of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryev and the Medical College of Korea University. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with his Korean counterpart Park Jin, an exchange of views took place on priority areas of trade and economic cooperation. Among other things, projects for the creation of an industrial cluster in the city of Arkadag, projects for the construction of gas chemical plants, the purchase of electric vehicles and electric buses, investments in the introduction of the latest digital and information, communication and other technologies in the construction of “smart cities” were discussed.

The ministers paid attention to the prospects for interaction in the field of technologies for desalination of sea water and innovations in the rational use of water resources, studying Korean experience in green and hydrogen energy, and creating high-tech industries focused on the production of competitive products.
During the negotiations, it was emphasized that the economic partnership of Turkmenistan with the Republic of Korea is strategic, sustainable and long-term.

The importance of cultural and humanitarian ties was also noted, primarily in the areas of education, science, the study of the Korean language, healthcare and medicine.
Diplomats noted the successful holding of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Korea in March this year, together with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, and the significance of the Korean Culture Week in November 2023 in Ashgabat.
