Gazprom and Uzbekistan signed a Strategic Memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector


As part of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum - 2023, a working meeting was held between Chairman of the Board of Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov.
The parties discussed the progress and prospects of interaction. In particular, they discussed the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan, which began in October of this year. It was noted that a specially designated route based on the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline system is of great importance for a stable energy supply to consumers in Uzbekistan, which is especially important in the autumn-winter period.
At the meeting, Alexey Miller and Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a Strategic Memorandum on cooperation in the energy complex. According to the document, the parties intend to develop cooperation in the field of gas supply and transportation, as well as in the field of geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons, according to a press release from the Russian company.
St. Petersburg International Gas Forum - 2023 takes place from October 31 to November 3.
In June 2023, a contract for the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and a road map for preparing the gas transportation system of Uzbekistan for the acceptance and transportation of Russian pipeline gas were signed.
In October 2023, a solemn ceremony was held to mark the start of supplies of Russian natural gas to consumers in Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by the presidents of three countries - Vladimir Putin, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
