"Green standards" for the hotel sector of Turkmenistan


A meeting of experts was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone to discuss innovative technologies and methods of applying energy-efficient practices in the development of the hotel sector. The participants were representatives of the Research and Production Center "Renewable Energy Sources" (NPC RES) The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (GEIT), UNDP, electric power companies and employees of the hotel business.

In the pilot hotel "Khasyl", specialists got acquainted with the results of the UNDP project on the introduction of energy saving practices in the hotel using energy-efficient and water-saving innovative technologies. We also saw in practice the effect of the implemented method of air quality control and solid green waste management methods for the development of sustainable tourism infrastructure in Avaza.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed the criteria of the "Green Standard" for the hotel sector of Turkmenistan, got acquainted with the results of the analysis of solar activity in Avaza and its impact on the design of solar power plants. These studies were conducted in pilot hotels "Seyran" and "Balkan". In addition, the experts discussed issues related to the maintenance of solar panels and proposed energy-saving measures, and their effectiveness.
