The speaker of the Turkmen parliament and the ambassador of Azerbaijan discussed prospects for cooperation
Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova held a meeting with new Ambassador of Azerbaijan Gismat Gozalov, discussing with him the prospects for bilateral cooperation.
The Chairman of the National Parliament noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have reached a new stage of development, which was facilitated by high-level contacts between both countries and the strategic partnership dialogue that has been actively developing in recent years.
Dunyagozel Gulmanova emphasized the importance of further expanding ties between both countries in the political, economic, humanitarian spheres and the importance of cooperation between parliaments in strengthening relations.
Gismat Gozalov stated that the achieved level of strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan opens up new horizons for interaction in various fields, news.day.az reports.
In terms of inter-parliamentary contacts, the ambassador noted the visit to Turkmenistan in December 2022 of Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, and the signing, within the framework of the visit, of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the legislative bodies of both countries.
At the meeting, it was expressed confidence in the continuation of effective practical cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, including at the level of working groups on interparliamentary relations, with the aim of further developing strategic relations between the two countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the new Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan
Gismat Gozalov officially took office as Ambassador to Turkmenistan in early October 2023, presenting his credentials to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During January-August 2023, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan increased almost 3 times compared to the corresponding period of the last year.
