Every year on October 29, the Turkish people celebrate their main national holiday - Republic Day. It was on this day one hundred years ago, in 1923, that Turkey was declared a Republic. Many events are dedicated to the centenary anniversary in the country, involving Turkey’s friends and neighbors, representatives of the Turkic world and a variety of nationalities in the colorful celebrations.

One of them, a student from Turkmenistan studying in the Turkish city of Samsun, joined the festive ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic as part of the volunteers of the Green Crescent charity organization (Genç Yeşilay) and decided to share his photographs and impressions with ORIENT. And we decided to share this with our readers.

Iskander Annamuhammedov is a first-year undergraduate student at the Faculty of Computer Engineering at Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi (OMÜ).

— Together with other 100 thousand participants in the holiday, I carried the 1919-meter flag of Turkey and at that moment I felt solidarity with the local residents and at the same time patriotic enthusiasm - at this solemn moment I wanted to emphasize the importance of uniting different cultures and peoples, and especially such fraternal, like the Turkmen and Turkish peoples,” Iskander shared.

The guy noted that he strives to make his contribution to the development of friendly ties between Turkmenistan and Turkey, telling his peers in Samsun about his Motherland, its culture and traditions, and the present day. He felt real pride when the President of Turkmenistan paid an official visit to Turkey a few days ago, and this caused a surge of interest in our country among Turkish youth.

And it is absolutely certain that there are many students like Iskander. Both in Turkey and in other countries, our young goodwill ambassadors are promoting public diplomacy, establishing bridges of culture and friendship among young people, future specialists who will work together to solve global problems and challenges.
