Strawberries will protect against dementia

This statement was made by American scientists from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, whose studies have confirmed that daily consumption of strawberries improves cognitive and intellectual abilities in older people, as well as reduces the threat of developing dementia in them.
The experiment involved men and women aged 50 to 65 years who complained of forgetfulness and difficulties in perceiving information. Scientists took their blood for analysis and divided the people into two groups.
The first one used dried and powdered strawberries for breakfast. The second received a placebo. A repeated blood test of the subjects, done three months later, showed that the study participants who ate the sweet berry began to remember and analyze any information better - they began to make fewer mistakes when studying the list of words.
It turns out that the fragrant fruit contains special elements - polyphenols. These are natural antioxidants that can slow down the development of Alzheimer's disease in old age. According to scientists, polyphenol also prevents the risk of depression, writes the journal Nutrients.
