The Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan spoke at the Global Gateway forum in Brussels


Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Joraev spoke at the Global Gateway forum held in Brussels on October 25-26. The event is hosted by the European Commission, whose President Ursula von der Leyen opened the meeting with the participation of heads and representatives of governments of the EU and partner countries, the private sector and other stakeholders.
The purpose of the forum is to demonstrate progress in the implementation of the Global Gateway strategy, within which the EU plans investments in communications, healthcare, education and research around the world.

Serdar Joraev in his report described the current state and prospects for the development of infrastructure in Turkmenistan. Noting the importance of improving global connectivity, the minister emphasized that the transport sector is key for the global economy, and also noted the relevance of the projects developed by Turkmenistan to diversify transport and energy connections.
The minister provided data on the throughput capacity of the Turkmenbashi seaport, which is a key element of the country’s transport infrastructure. Serdar Joraev also highlighted several priority regional investment projects in the field of transport, which may also be of interest to Europe.
