Supplies of Turkmen gas to Turkey have acquired special strategic importance - Erdogan

Turkmenistan is among the leading countries in the region and the world in terms of energy reserves, and in the current environment, supplies of Turkmen natural gas to Turkey and to world markets through Turkey have acquired special strategic importance, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
“In this context, both bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan and trilateral cooperation processes involving Azerbaijan are important,” the Turkish leader said during a joint press conference following talks with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ankara on Thursday.
The Turkish leader noted that this visit is of particular importance since it is Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first visit to Turkey as president.
“Our relationship, based on a common history, language, religion and culture, grows stronger every day on the basis of mutual respect, cooperation and common interests. During our meetings today, we assessed all aspects of our relations and discussed the possibilities of interaction,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by his press service.
The President of Turkey also noted that the current meeting confirmed the similarity of views with Turkmenistan on many issues. “Current events in the world and especially in our region have revealed the importance of our unity under the auspices of the Organization of Turkic States,” Erdogan said. “I would like to take this opportunity to once again emphasize that we want to see Turkmenistan, which is an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States, a full member of our family council,” he added.
