Central Asia Gateway received UN award as the best trade information portal

The UN Digital Government Prize 2023, launched on 19 October during the 8th World Investment Forum, praised progress in accelerating digital government services in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The winner in the category “Best Trade Information Portal” was the Central Asia Gateway program, a joint initiative of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The portal provides direct access to step-by-step guides to licenses, pre-clearance permits and customs clearance formalities for most goods traded within the region, imported and exported from Central Asia.

These steps have made it easier for entrepreneurs to open and formalize their businesses and for investors to quickly obtain the necessary licenses to invest in SDG-related sectors such as climate change and pharmaceutical production in developing countries, according to a post on the UNCTAD website. (UN Conference on Trade and Development).
The awards, the result of a partnership between UNCTAD and the Global Enterprise Network covering 200 countries, were divided into four distinct categories, each representing a vital aspect of digital transformation in the public sector.
In addition to the Best Trade Information Portal category, there were also Best Digital Single Window for Starting or Running a Business, Best Digital Information Portal for Starting or Running a Business, and Future Digital Tools to Facilitate Investment in SDGs.
The award ceremony also saw the launch of the UN Digital Government Community, which brings together governments and organizations and enables UNCTAD to facilitate the exchange of know-how and technology on public service innovation.
