Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met in Beijing, at the Great Hall of the People, with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Before the start of the meeting on Thursday, October 19, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the head of the PRC were photographed against the backdrop of the National Flags of both countries.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the key vectors of Turkmen-Chinese interaction, which demonstrates progressive dynamics on a bilateral and multilateral basis and being built with a long-term perspective.

Xi Jinping called for strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Turkmenistan, which serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and the common aspirations of the two peoples.

China will continue to work with Turkmenistan to promote the sustainable and long-term development of bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two peoples, Xi Jinping said at a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Xinhua reported.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the traditional friendship between Turkmenistan and China can be traced for more than two thousand years, going back to the distant past; both countries and their people were closely connected by the Great Silk Road.

The Great Silk Road, which passed through the territory of Central Asia from China to Europe, became a factor in the development and progress of the entire world civilization.

“Speaking about ensuring sustainable development in the region, I note the importance of efforts to combine Turkmenistan’s strategy “Revival of the Great Silk Road” with China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Over the years, this initiative has contributed to strengthening trade and cultural ties in the Eurasian region,” the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan said. The state news agency TDH reports this.

Turkmenistan is firmly committed to further strengthening fraternal and friendly ties with China, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said and emphasized the high level of mutual trust, mutual understanding and openness achieved in recent years in relations between the two countries.

This nature of cooperation makes a noticeable constructive contribution to the preservation and strengthening of international stability and security, contributes to the solution of a number of pressing regional issues, and is an important factor in accelerating and expanding trade and economic processes on the Asian continent, Chairman Khalk Maslahaty said.

“Turkmenistan is firmly committed to further strengthening fraternal and friendly ties with China, and is also ready to continue joint work in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres,” the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, bilateral documents were signed. These include: an Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on technical and economic cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in strengthening the capacity of the Authorized Economic Operator Program.
