Rashid Meredov took part in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS


A regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Bishkek. The delegation of Turkmenistan at the meeting was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of topical issues, including important aspects of the international and regional agenda, as well as cooperation within the CIS. The most important directions of future multilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, trade, economy and culture for the coming period have been identified.

The meeting participants also discussed important projects related to the Decision on the draft Action Plan for the Preparation and Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the CIS in 2025, the Decision on the CIS Championship (Championship, Cup), the Decision on the Plan of multi-level inter-ministerial consultations within the CIS, etc.
Noting the priority directions and positions of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov stressed the constructive nature of cooperation within the CIS, where there is significant potential for joint efforts, according to a press release of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the discussion, new ideas and projects aimed at strengthening cooperation between the CIS countries were proposed. The prospects of cooperation in the field of science and education were also considered.
It was decided to hold a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers on April 12, 2024 in Minsk.
