President of the Russian Federation presents CIS leaders with literary collections of works of the Commonwealth


Russian President Vladimir Putin presented his colleagues with literary collections of works of the CIS countries at the summit of CIS leaders in Bishkek, the Kremlin reports.
Among the gifts is "Anthology of modern literature of the CIS countries" in three volumes. They contain literary works of the peoples of the CIS countries translated into Russian. The first includes prose works by 94 authors written over the past 30 years.
The second volume collects the works of more than one hundred poets from the Commonwealth countries, and the best children's works by CIS authors are presented in the third volume of the anthology.
In addition, the President of the Russian Federation presented the CIS leaders with an exclusive edition of the two-volume anthology Modern Russian Literature. Each copy of the anthology has been translated into different languages of the peoples of the CIS countries. The collection will make it possible to get acquainted with the works of the leading contemporary Russian authors in the original language and feel the sound of the texts in translation into national languages. The first volume includes prose works by 48 authors, the second volume includes poems by 33 poets.
According to the Kremlin, over the past 30 years in each of the CIS countries "fiction has continued to develop, new authors and significant works have appeared, about which not enough is known in the common cultural field of the Commonwealth. Anthologies are a huge intellectual contribution to the cultural rapprochement and unity of peoples, and their release gave a new impetus for the development of schools of fiction translation in the CIS countries, support translators, popularization of this kind of activity and attracting new talented writers to it," the material says.
