Director of the State Museum of Turkmenistan elected head of the Union of Museums TURKSOY
The II conference of the TURKSOY Union of Museums was held in Baku, where issues of cooperation and development of museum business in the Turkic world were discussed. The conference also announced the appointment of Meretgeldy Charyev, Director of the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, as the interim head of the TURKSOY Union of Museums for 2024. The conference was held at the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan. It was attended by more than 30 specialists from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as members of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY.
The conference was attended by representatives of museums of the Turkic states, who shared their experience and prospects for the development of museum work in their countries. They also discussed the possibilities of cooperation and exchange within the framework of the Union of TURKSOY Museums aimed at preserving and popularizing the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
Following the results of the conference, it was decided to transfer the powers of the head of the Union of Museums of TURKSOY from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan for 2024. This is due to the fact that the city of Anau in Turkmenistan was elected the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024.
The Union of TURKSOY Museums is an association of museums of the Turkic world, which was founded in 2013 under the patronage of the International Organization of Turkic Culture.
