UNEP Director got acquainted with environmental projects of Turkmenistan


Director of the United Nations Environment Programme-International Ecosystem Management Partnership (UNEP-IEMP), Linxiu Zhang, made a working visit to Turkmenistan, where she discussed issues of environmental development and cooperation with local partners, the press service of the United Nations in Turkmenistan reports.
During the visit, Zhang met with the UN country team, representatives of national institutions, and also visited the city of Arkadag, which is an example of the use of modern technologies to build an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient city.
Zhang also gave a lecture at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where she told students about the goals and strategies of UNEP to combat climate change at the global and regional levels. She also shared with students learning resources and opportunities to participate in various UNEP programs and projects.
The visit of the UNEP Director contributed to strengthening the dialogue and partnership between the UN and Turkmenistan in the field of ecology and sustainable development. Zhang expressed her recognition for Turkmenistan’s achievements in this area and emphasized UNEP’s readiness to provide support and expertise for the implementation of environmental initiatives and projects in the country.
