Turkmenistan received a certificate of inclusion of Magtymguly's poetry collection in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register
A certificate of inclusion of Magtymguly Pyragy's collection of manuscripts in UNESCO's international Memory of the World Register was handed over by UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko to the Minister of Culture and President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
The event was held in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts, scientists and professors, as well as students.
The collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy includes the surviving manuscripts of his works, spread in the territory of Turkmenistan in the XVIII-XIX centuries. There are more than 80 divans in the collection. This is a rare example of oral and written heritage of Turkmens and peoples of the entire Turkic-speaking world, literature of Central Asia and Europe.
The Memory of the World Program was established by UNESCO in 1992 and is an international project to protect ancient written monuments of countries and peoples of the world - documents or collections of documents of significant and enduring value in paper, audiovisual, digital or any other format.
