Indian artists brought the Holi and Bollywood holiday to Ashgabat
The performance of the ensemble of folk dances of India was a wonderful gift to the residents of Ashgabat - the Turkmen people love Indian art. Therefore, on Thursday evening the metropolitan cinema-concert hall "Vatan" was crowded.
Perfomance in honor of the 70th anniversary of India's independence and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of India.
The artists came to us from the city of Nepal Nagara (Madhya Pradesh), they represent the famous ensemble "Nepangar Jagruti Kala Kendra".
The concert program included dancing, telling about the bright holiday of Holi (a holiday of colors). The dance of Phagua begins with the cultivation of traditional fire, on the eve of the Holi festival and lasts for five days, and in Bhagoria it is distinguished by acrobatic elements and pyramids of people. The dance of Ganvi, dedicated to Durga (mother goddess), was also presented. This sacred dance is often performed all night.
Since ancient times, the inhabitants of India have told stories about their choreographic art, shared emotions and joy. Ritual dances were performed, for example, for the onset of spring, the birth of a child, during weddings and other significant events.
Some dances are performed only by men or only by women, and there are also joint dances. In many cases, the dancers perform the songs themselves, accompanied by folk instruments. In dances they use colorful, richly decorated, specially tailored suits for a certain dance.
Laughter and smiles to the spectators of Ashgabat was presented by a comic number - a parody of the familiar dances from the famous Bollywood films. Melodies from the movie were masterfully reproduced by the band members on national instruments.
The concert seemed to have carried spectators to India, immersing in the atmosphere of the holiday and bright colors, charging with positive emotions.
Founder and head of the ensemble Mukesh Darbar, noted the beauty of Ashgabat, expressed a desire to get acquainted with the rich choreographic art of Turkmenistan on the first visit of the ensemble to our country.
On Friday, November 24, Indian artists will present their art to the inhabitants of the city of Mary. The performance of this colorful ensemble will be held at the Kemin State Drama Theater.
