The Tatar State Academic Theater named after Galiasgar Kamal will come to Turkmenistan on tour and take part in the IV International Theater Festival in Ashgabat on November 14-16, the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan reports.

Kamala Theater is a classical theater where performances by Tatar, Russian and foreign playwrights are staged in the Tatar language. To the Turkmen audience, the theater troupe will present the play "Kilmeshek" ("Alien"), telling the story of the soldier Nakip, who after the war began a new life in the Canadian outback and created a prototype of a Tatar village there, where he grew vegetables and celebrated the national holiday Sabantuy.

Once the hero receives the news that the former Soviet subjects are allowed to return to their homeland and they are no longer in danger. The audience will find out what decision the soldier will make and how his fate will develop further by watching the production.

The Tatar State Academic Theater named after Galiasgar Kamal was established on December 22, 1906 in Kazan – on this day the first public performance in the Tatar language was played, and this date is considered the birthday of the Tatar theater. The title "Academic" was awarded to the theater in 1926, and the name of the classic of Tatar drama Galiasgar Kamal — in 1939.

One of the first artists of the troupe was a talented director Gabdulla Kariev, who was called the "father of the Tatar theater" during his lifetime. Subsequently, he became the head of the team.

Another interesting fact related to the Kamal Theater: in 1907, Sahibjamal Gizzatullina-Volzhskaya joined the troupe - the first woman to ascend the stage stage not only in theaters of Turkic-speaking peoples, but also throughout the Muslim world.

Since 1998, the Kamal Theater has been holding the International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples "Nauruz", and since 2010 — the International Theater and Educational Forum "Nauruz".
