China is ready to invest in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor

China is ready to invest and develop infrastructure for China-Europe rail freight transportation.
At today's meeting between President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, some plans in the field of transport were put forward, and at its conclusion, members of the delegations signed bilateral documents, including those aimed at the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), widely known as the "Middle Corridor".
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan said in a statement that a new intergovernmental agreement on the development of TITR, including for container trains by China – Europe, will be implemented within the framework of existing BRI agreements between the two states and in combination with the Kazakhstan financial project "Nurly Zhol", aimed at stimulating and developing internal transport infrastructure.
That is, the parties agreed on the development of the Middle Corridor by integrating it into the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative. Both countries will invest in port infrastructure, transit container transportation, combined transportation and other infrastructure.
A working group should be established at the ministerial level to monitor the development of freight traffic in the corridor, which, according to the Governments of Kazakhstan and China, will also begin to receive China-Europe container trains more regularly.
