The International Olympic Committee's Executive Committee has approved the inclusion of flag football, cricket, lacrosse, squash and baseball/softball in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

“These five proposed sports are entirely consistent with American sports culture and will showcase iconic American sports to the world. Their inclusion will allow the Olympic Movement to engage with new communities of athletes and fans in the United States and around the world. At the same time, international sports will come to the United States,” International Olympic Committee (IOC) Chairman Thomas Bach told reporters following a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee in Mumbai.

In February 2022, the IOC included 28 sports in the preliminary program for the 2028 Summer Games. The final competition program and the number of quotas in additional sports will be formed later.

The Los Angeles Olympics will take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028.
