The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan has grown almost 3 times


In January-August 2023, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan increased almost 3 times compared to the corresponding period last year and reached 645 million US dollars. This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev, speaking at the gala evening in honor of the 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence in Baku, at the Gulustan Palace.

"The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on joint exploration and exploitation of the hydrogen resources of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea in 2021 is important from the point of view of increasing the prosperity of the region, ensuring peace and stability, developing cooperation in the Caspian and strengthening energy security. We have also made significant progress in the field of transport and transit," Sahil Babayev continued.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Gurbanmamet Elyasov, speaking about the country's successes over the years of independence, also stressed the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
"Today, from a geopolitical and geo-economic point of view, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan occupy an important role at the crossroads of Eurasia in the field of transport, communications and energy," the Ambassador stressed.

Chairman of the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan Eldar Guliyev and Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldy Shamuradov also spoke at the event.
Heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of state structures and public organizations took part in the celebration. The guests were presented with a concert program, dishes of Turkmen national cuisine, an exhibition of exhibits and video materials reflecting the traditions and customs of the Turkmen people.
