The CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will consider draft joint statements by heads of state in Bishkek

On October 12, the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Bishkek (this year the CIS is chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic).
The draft agenda includes 20 issues covering a wide range of areas of cooperation within the Commonwealth. It is expected that the heads of foreign affairs agencies will exchange views on current international and regional topics and discuss prospects for the development of multifaceted interaction in the CIS format, including taking into account Russia’s upcoming chairmanship in the association from January 1, 2024.
As part of strengthening foreign policy coordination, the ministers will approve draft joint statements on a number of important international topics, which will be submitted to the leaders of the CIS countries on October 13, and will approve a plan for inter-Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultations for 2024.
It is planned to pay attention to increasing interaction in law enforcement, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as expanding international relations of the Commonwealth. In the context of the Year of the Russian Language as a language of interethnic communication announced this year in the CIS, decisions will be made aimed at its popularization in the Commonwealth and in the world as a whole, the Information and Analytical Department of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
