A Korean calligraphy contest was held in Ashgabat
A Korean calligraphy contest was held in Ashgabat, dedicated to the day of the creation of the Korean alphabet - Hangul Day.
The event was held at the King Sejong Korean Educational Center, which operates on the basis of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages.
The competition was attended by about 50 students of the center of different ages and levels of proficiency in the Korean language. They showed their mastery in the art of writing hangul, made by different techniques and styles.
The jury evaluated the works according to the criteria of beauty, originality and literacy. According to the results of the competition, the best works in hangul technique were selected, which were awarded with traditional gifts from Korea. The winners also received certificates and diplomas from the Korean Educational Center.
The Korean calligraphy contest was held with the aim of popularizing the Korean language and culture in Turkmenistan, as well as increasing interest and motivation to learn Korean among the center's listeners. The King Sejong Korean Educational Center opened in Ashgabat in October 2019.
The Center provides free Korean language courses for everyone, and also holds various events dedicated to Korean history, literature, music, cinema and other aspects of culture. The Center is one of 60 similar centers that operate in different countries of the world under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Korea. The headquarters is located in Seoul.
