UNRCCA Head Kakha Imnadze met in Moscow with CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev


Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Kakha Imnadze met in Moscow with CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.
During the meeting, which took place on Monday, October 9, at the branch of the CIS Executive Committee, issues of further cooperation in resolving issues common to the countries of Central Asia and the Commonwealth were discussed, and the importance of maintaining contacts and exchanging views on the situation in the Central Asian region was noted.
The parties also informed each other about planned events this year, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Philip Saprykin, Second Secretary of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yulia Sheveleva, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Ilkhom Nematov and others.
The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) is a special UN mission based in Ashgabat. The official opening of the Center took place on December 10, 2007. The mission of the Center is to help the countries of Central Asia, through dialogue and negotiations, find solutions to pressing issues for the region, including energy development, water resource management and the fight against terrorism.
