Pakistani Energy Minister to travel to Turkmenistan in October - Prime Minister
Acting Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that the government of Pakistan, which is experiencing energy shortages and uses very expensive sources, is actively cooperating with Turkmenistan on import of gas.
“The potential of gas in Turkmenistan is very huge, and I hope that by the end of the term of the interim government we will come to a practical conclusion in this regard,” the prime minister said in an interview with media platform Talk Shock on Sunday evening, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported. (APP).
In this regard, he said that in a couple of weeks, the Minister of Energy of Pakistan will take part in the Energy Week in Turkmenistan (meaning the oil and gas forum OGT 2023, which will be held on October 25-27 in Ashgabat - editor's note).
On Monday, October 9, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar met with Federal Minister of Energy, Energy and Petroleum of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali, APP reports. The Prime Minister was briefed on measures being taken to promote foreign investment in the country's minerals sector through the Special Investment Promotion Council.
Earlier, in July of this year, this Council included the project of construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline as a priority for attracting investments.
In August, the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan announced that the Agreement with the government of the country would be concluded in October.
Last week, the Turkmen delegation met with acting Minister of Energy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the oil and gas conference and exhibition ADIPEC 2023.
