Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau: Turkmenistan is an active member of the Expo community


During his visit to Ashgabat, Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Begench Gochmollayev.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation and participation of Turkmenistan in the BIE and international exhibitions. In particular, Turkmenistan's participation in Expo 2023 Doha, where the National Day of Turkmenistan will be held on October 9, was highlighted, and plans for the country's participation in the Osaka Kansai World Expo 2025 were discussed, the Bureau's website reports.
On Friday, the Secretary General of the BIE Dimitri Kerkentzes held a meeting with the head of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Nokerguly Atagulyev and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Mergen Gurdov, who expressed interest in promoting the private sector of Turkmenistan at the Expo venues.
"Turkmenistan stands out as an active and dedicated member of the Expo community, making a significant contribution, especially during universal and specialized exhibitions," Kerkentzes noted.
Turkmenistan has been actively participating in international exhibitions since the 1993 Specialized Exhibition held in Daejeon, South Korea and including the World Expo in Shanghai, Milan, Astana and Dubai.
In 2012, Turkmenistan joined the BIE in order to strengthen its role in the Organization.
On October 5, the Secretary General of the BIE was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
