Turkmen wrestler wins bronze medal at Asian Games in Hangzhou
Turkmen freestyle wrestler Dovletmurad Orazgylyjov won a bronze medal at the 19th Summer Asian Games, which are being held in Hangzhou, China.
The athlete received a bronze award in the weight category up to 86 kg.
In the preliminary round, Orazgylyjov defeated the representative of Singapore, Weng Chowa.
At the next stage of the tournament, the Turkmen wrestler was defeated by Hassan Yazdanicharati from Iran, ending up in the round of “consolation” matches.
In them, Orazgylyjov turned out to be stronger than the Kyrgyzstani Muhammad Abdullaev and the Mongolian Byambasuren, thereby winning the bronze medal of the championship.
Previously, judoka Maysa Pardaeva, boxer Bayramdurdy Nurmukhammedov, and representatives of kurash Ishanmyrat Ataev and Ainur Amanova received bronze medals. Another master of kurash, Tejen Tejenov, brought a silver medal to the Turkmen team.
Let us remind you that the Asian Games are held from September 23 to October 8. The 19th Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou were originally scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25, 2022, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2023.
In total, more than 15 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries take part in the games. At the games, 481 sets of medals are awarded in 40 sports.
Turkmen athletes represent the country in sports such as 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, jujitsu, judo, kurash wrestling, karate, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.
