October 6 is a united Memorial Day in Turkmenistan, when the country pays tribute to the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake, as well as the heroes who died on the battlefields of all wars.

On this day, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid wreaths at the monuments of the “People's Memory” Memorial Complex, which combines three sculptural compositions.

The head of state laid a wreath first at the monument to those killed during the 1948 earthquake - Ruhy tagzym (Spiritual Respect), then at the monuments erected in honor of the Turkmen soldiers who died in the battle against fascism and in the battles for the freedom of their native land - Baky şöhrat (Eternal Glory) and Milletiň ogullary (Sons of the Nation).
