Scientists from the NTI Competence Center Distributed Ledger Technology Center based at St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU), together with specialists from the MAS-Vneshtrans company, have developed a platform for accelerating maritime transport.

Thus, a new electronic document management program for maritime exports is designed to reduce the time for signing cargo documents from several days to two hours. It also allows export participants to track the transfer of goods.

In order to maintain the confidentiality of documents, specialists used blockchain technology. It involves the creation of a decentralized network consisting of a chain of blocks with information that are interconnected by codes. This, in turn, does not allow forging or changing information and ensures the integrity and security of the data processing process.

According to the Director of the Center for Distributed Register Technologies of St. Petersburg State University Dmitry Shishmakov, their main task was to automate the process of verification of information, issuing an electronic version of documents, sending data to the necessary recipients, as well as digitalizing an electronic signature.

Cargo data is recorded and entered into the system at each stage of its transfer, which ensures transparency of the export process.
