Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Brussels Sapar Palvanov held a meeting with Deputy of the House of Representatives of Belgium Tim Vandenput, Chairman of the interparliamentary friendship group "Belgium-Turkmenistan".

During the conversation, the Turkmen diplomat stressed the importance of activating the inter-parliamentary dialogue and called the creation of the above-mentioned friendship group in 2020 an impulse in bilateral cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

In this context, it was proposed to organize the first meeting of this group in the near future, and Tim Vandenput welcomed this proposal with enthusiasm. The parties agreed that the inaugural meeting should be held in Brussels.

Tim Vandenput stressed that his team will develop a special program to make the first meeting as eventful as possible for the Turkmen delegation.

Then the parties considered the issue of establishing contacts at the highest level, and the Belgian deputy assured of his full involvement in the organization of such a meeting. He noted the growing importance of Turkmenistan and the Central Asian region for Belgium, highlighting the prospects for cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture and education.

At the same time, special attention was paid to the transport sector with a focus on the geographical advantages of Turkmenistan and the possibilities of the Turkmenbashi seaport on the Caspian Sea.

Among the promising areas of cooperation, the energy sector was named with an eye to the development of hydrogen energy and renewable energy sources, reducing the negative impact of the fuel and energy complex on the environment and climate change.
