Turkmen farmers prepare for banana harvest


A rich harvest of bananas is planned to be collected in November- December of this year by the "Ferhar" Economic Society. The greenhouse cluster, where exotic fruits are grown, is located in the Mary region, the publication of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan reports.
There are 2 thousand banana trees in farm greenhouses, and they have already reached almost three meters high. This is a genus of perennial herbaceous plants of the banana family and with proper care and agrotechnical supervision, it is possible to collect a good harvest. By the way, the necessary tree seedlings are grown here on the farm.
Ferhar specialists also grow another tropical fruit in their greenhouses – papaya, the delicious fruits of which are also used as food additives. More than 70 trees grow and bear fruit on the plantation today.
In addition to exotic fruits, Mary farmers also grow other citrus crops. The orchards of the farm are spread over 15 hectares. Currants, cranberries and other types of fruits and berries are harvested here every year.
